Two Michelin stars for restaurants in the city of Bordeaux and two big names Gordon Ramsay at the Grand Hotel’s restaurant Le Pressoir d’Argent and Pierre Gagnaire at La Grande Maison.
The other two star restaurants are in the vineyards one in the medieval village of Saint Emilion and one overlooking the vines in the Péssac Leognan appellation La Grand’Vigne at les Sources Caudalie hotel and wine spa complex to the south of Bordeaux at Martillac.

we will be biking in the vineyards in early July and have decided to blow the budget on one night at a Mich 2* on our last night in Bordeaux. I am sure there is no wrong choice but can you (or anyone) suggest whether to go with Le Pressoir d’Argent or Pierre Gagnaire (at Bernard Magrez)? We are looking for great food, wine, service of course, but our very favourite restaurants also have intimacy and a strong sense of place…..
Hi! I just ate at la Grande Maison (very regional ingredients, fresh, seasonal) so I would highly recommend it. Invited by clients of course! They had just eaten at le Pressoir d’argent as well and highly recommended it but said is was a richer style of food. Hope this helps, Nicolle
