Popular Pessac; Record Primeur Numbers at Château Olivier

A record number of people were received this week despite the April rain showers at the annual primeur tasting in Pessac-Léognan hosted by Château Olivier, one of Bordeaux’s most historic properties dating back to the 14th century. Pessac Léognan was claimed by many to be one of the most successful appellations in 2012 foe both its red and white wines (along with Pomerol).

According to owner Alexandre de Bethmann (whose  family have run the estate since 1878 and whose father Jean-Jacques passed away in July last year) the historic château received 3000 visitors over the four days (1 day Pessac Léognan & 3 days UGC) and opened 3000 bottles of wines (a range of the 50 hectare estate’s wines, one of only 6 to be classified for both red and white, were served during the lunches). No less than 1200 people attended the first day organised by the Syndicat Pessac Léognan.
